Leaping Clear welcomes accomplished artists whose work is informed by dedicated meditative and contemplative practices. We’re interested in the range of voices and visions at the interfaces of specific meditative/contemplative disciplines and the forms and media the artists are exploring.
We invite you to spend some time with Leaping Clear before submitting. We value art that asks, “What is this?” and invites readers/viewers/listeners to become involved.
We look forward to hearing from you. Below are some specific guidelines; there are more in each category.
Our submission periods are April 1—May 31 and October 1—November 30. If your work has been accepted or published by Leaping Clear, please wait until two issues after your publication date before submitting again.
Please don’t include any of your previous publications, shows, recordings, or videos in your cover letter. We ask that you use the cover letter only to briefly describe your meditation or contemplation practice.
Writers, please send your finest, finished, unpublished work, using the submission form for your genre. Simultaneous submissions are fine, but if your work is accepted elsewhere, please notify us immediately by leaving a note through your submission account.
Please use the submission form provided for your medium or genre, and submit in English. Do not include your name anywhere in your uploaded file, as submissions are read blind.
Please submit only once in a category before hearing back from us. As an all-volunteer staff, we make every effort to respond in a timely way, between 1 and 6 months.
Occasionally, we publish work that has appeared elsewhere. If that’s your situation, please mention that in the cover letter space of submissions, with publication details.
Leaping Clear acquires one-time publication rights only, which revert upon publication to the published artists. We archive our issues; however, artists are free to re-publish material first appearing in Leaping Clear on their own sites, or on other sites that accept previously published work. In both cases, we ask that Leaping Clear be credited with first publication.
